The Inspection
Prior to starting construction on this Annandale home, our team executed a complete demolition and safe disposal of the existing wood deck surface, original wooden trim, and outdated railings with 4''x4'' posts. Following the removal of the old materials, we performed a thorough structural inspection of the exposed joists and substructure to evaluate their integrity and ensure a solid foundation before installing modern composite components and protective trim.
The Process
To deliver a low-maintenance exterior space, we first applied professional-grade waterproof joist tape to protect the exposed wood framing from rot and moisture damage. We then installed Trex Enhance® Saddle Brown composite decking on the main surface and stairs, using Trex Hideaway® hidden fasteners for a clean, barefoot-friendly finish. As an upgrade, we replaced the original exterior wood boards with durable PVC trim for long-lasting weather resistance and a refined appearance. We also built a pressure-treated pine staircase with concrete footings for safe access and finished the project with a Trex Select® white composite railing featuring black pickets for enhanced safety and curb appeal.

The completed deck renovation in Annandale seamlessly replaces high-maintenance wood with long-lasting Trex composite materials and durable PVC trim.
