The Inspection
Our team began by evaluating the existing sunroom structure, which featured a basic vinyl soffit ceiling. The initial assessment revealed a need for significant structural reinforcement to support a more durable and energy-efficient enclosure. We carefully removed the old vinyl panels to expose the existing framework, preparing the 330-square-foot area for a comprehensive upgrade.
The Process
To ensure long-term stability, we installed a reinforced ceiling system with enhanced thermal performance. New 2” x 8” pressure-treated joists were placed every 16 inches on center using structural screws and adhesives for added strength. R-13 fiberglass insulation was added between joists to improve energy efficiency. The ceiling was finished with 3/8-inch LP SmartSide Cedar Texture panels, secured with exterior-grade screws and adhesive for a durable, seamless result.
The Result
The final result is a structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing sunroom ceiling that combines the beauty of cedar texture with the durability of engineered wood. By reinforcing the joists and adding R-13 insulation, we have created a space that is better equipped to handle environmental stress while maintaining a comfortable internal temperature. This 22′ x 15′ project showcases our commitment to using high-quality materials like LP SmartSide to deliver lasting value.
