The Process
The project involved meticulous preparation, starting with the excavation of two 235 square foot sections for the patios. Subsoil compaction was performed to provide a stable base, followed by the construction of wood frames and the installation of wire mesh to reinforce the concrete. A precise slope was engineered into the patio design to facilitate water drainage. After pouring the concrete, a Majestic Ashlar stamp was applied to create a distinctive pattern. A landing concrete tread was also installed for additional functionality. Concurrently, the river rock area underwent similar subsoil preparation, with landscape fabric laid out before the river rocks were placed.
The Result
The final result is a stunning 12′ x 38′ combined patio area that offers the elegance of natural slate with the durability of reinforced concrete. The Soft Grey finish and the precision of the English Slate pattern provide a sophisticated outdoor living area for the homeowners in Herndon. This low-maintenance solution not only increases property value but also creates the perfect environment for outdoor gatherings.
