The Process
A new single-level platform deck was built, keeping the original layout and adding step-downs on the right (approx. 9 ft) and rear sides (approx. 10 ft). The structure uses pressure-treated framing with 2″ x 8″ joists, double 2″ x 8″ or 2″ x 10″ beams, and 6″ x 6″ posts, all meeting current building codes. Footings were set at 18″ x 18″ and 30″ deep for stability, with joists spaced 12″ on center. The deck surface was finished with 1″ x 6″ TimberTech Terrain+ White Oak boards installed with hidden fasteners, and the existing 55″ x 31″ storage landing was updated using matching materials.
The Result
The completed project resulted in a high-quality, durable pool deck that enhances the aesthetic continuity and functionality of the outdoor space. The new deck not only replicates the dimensions of the previous structure but also incorporates modern materials and design elements, ensuring longevity and improved performance.
