The Inspection
For this Fort Washington project, we assessed the 285 sq ft wooden deck, inspecting damaged boards and the support system. After evaluating the joists and rim joists, we determined that partial structural reinforcement was needed to ensure safety and longevity.
The Process
To deliver a durable, refreshed outdoor space, we removed the worn 2'' x 6'' decking while preserving the sound frame. We reinforced the structure with new 2'' x 8'' pressure-treated rim joists and installed 285 sq ft of #2 pressure-treated pine decking, secured with 3-inch exterior screws for a safe, flush finish. This approach ensures both improved aesthetics and long-term structural performance.
The Result
The transformation resulted in a beautiful 285 sq ft deck that combines the natural beauty of premium pine with enhanced structural stability. The homeowner now has a reliable and inviting outdoor area perfect for relaxation and gatherings.
