The Inspection
For this Alexandria project, we assessed the site to design a 317 sq ft platform deck that maximizes space while maintaining access to key areas. We measured from the entrance to the fence gate and included a custom box-out for the storage door. We also evaluated soil conditions to plan a deep, code-compliant foundation for a level and stable base.
The Process
To ensure durability, we installed deep concrete footings to create a strong, code-compliant foundation. We built a sturdy frame with 2x10 beams and 2x8 joists spaced 12” on center for added strength, then installed #2 pressure-treated pine decking secured with exterior screws for a flush finish. We also included a custom 3’9” x 8′ opening near the storage door, ensuring both functionality and a seamless design.
The Result
The finished project is an impressive 317 square foot platform deck that significantly expands the home’s usable outdoor space with a clean, modern aesthetic. By using high-quality pressure-treated pine and a reinforced framing system, we have provided the homeowner with a beautiful, low-profile retreat that is built to last.
