The Inspection
For this Woodbridge, VA project, we inspected a 190 sq ft deck and confirmed the frame was sound, but the decking boards and step platform needed replacement. We planned a full surface upgrade with pressure-treated pine for both the 10′ x 19′ area and the 9-foot step to ensure a safe, uniform finish.
The Process
The restoration began with the careful removal of the old, weathered boards. We then installed new premium 2”x6” pressure-treated pine decking across the entire 190-square-foot surface and the step platform. To ensure maximum durability, we used #9 x 3-inch exterior self-starting star flat-head wood screws. A key aesthetic and functional upgrade included the installation of new 6x6 black post caps, providing a modern contrast to the natural wood. We also replaced perimeter fence boards with 1''x8'' lumber to maintain a cohesive look throughout the entire structure.
The Result
The final result is a beautifully restored wood deck that looks and feels brand new. By choosing premium-grade pressure-treated pine and upgrading details like the black post caps, we’ve provided this Woodbridge home with a high-quality outdoor retreat that will last for years. The refreshed 190 sq ft surface and stabilized steps offer a safe and inviting space for the family.
