Enhancing Function And Style With a Patio

The Inspection

For this Annandale project, our team assessed the 692 sq ft excavation area and planned the removal of the existing deck stairs to prepare the site. We inspected subsoil conditions to ensure a stable base for the paver and concrete sections and mapped out the layout for a new retaining wall, defining grade changes and structural needs to properly support the landscape.

The Process

To complete this outdoor transformation, our team handled excavation and grading with a 1-inch-per-4-feet slope for proper drainage. We installed a 180 sq ft concrete platform with a gravel base and high-strength concrete, then built a durable retaining wall using 6″x6″ posts anchored in deep footings, adding drainage to prevent water buildup.

We also expanded the paver area by 51 sq ft, installing a total of 563 sq ft of Oceanic Blue pavers over a compacted base, secured with a border and finished with Permasand for a strong, long-lasting surface.

The Result

The result is a highly functional and visually striking backyard retreat in Annandale that seamlessly blends the Oceanic Blue paver patio with a durable concrete platform. The integrated timber retaining wall ensures long-lasting structural integrity and proper drainage, while the expanded paver footprint perfectly accommodates the deck access.
