The Inspection
Our project in Falls Church, VA, started with the careful removal of 532 square feet of outdated horizontal aluminum and vinyl siding across the house and carport areas. Once the old exterior was cleared, our team conducted a thorough inspection of the underlying wood sheathing. Ensuring a solid, rot-free foundation is a critical first step to guarantee that the new high-end siding performs perfectly and protects the home for decades.
The Process
To provide superior weather resistance, we first applied a premium house wrap fortified with flashing tape and DuPont FlexWrap over the exposed sheathing. We then installed highly durable James Hardie fiber cement planks utilizing a precise overlap method to create a robust and elegant barrier against the elements. A key custom upgrade during this phase involved the door frame: we modified the left side of the door jamb to sit completely flush with the outside corner, and meticulously wrapped the remaining jamb with high-quality aluminum trim coil. To finalize the installation, all corners, sides, and new aluminum trims were expertly sealed with professional white exterior caulking, ensuring a flawless, watertight finish.
The Result
The home has been beautifully transformed, offering significantly enhanced curb appeal and unmatched protection thanks to the industry-leading durability of James Hardie siding. The custom aluminum door trim and seamless caulking ensure that every detail contributes to a highly efficient, low-maintenance exterior.
