The Inspection
For this Arlington, VA project, we assessed the 288 sq ft subgrade to ensure proper compaction and drainage. We planned a 1-inch-per-4-feet slope to direct water away from the foundation and protect the structure.
The Process
The construction process began with marking and excavation, followed by the placement of a compacted gravel base. To maximize strength, we installed a reinforcing grid combining #4 rebar and 6x6x10 wire mesh. We poured a high-strength concrete mix and leveled the surface before applying stamping and coloring techniques. A standout feature of this project was the construction of a concrete landing tread, seamlessly integrated into the patio design. Finally, we applied a release agent and sealants to enhance the texture and ensure a long lifespan against the elements.
