From Aging Structure to Modern Oasis
The Inspection
A comprehensive assessment was conducted on the existing outdoor structure, which included an aged deck with a roof, a wooden shed, and a staircase. The inspection confirmed the need for a complete removal to make way for an upgraded installation.
The Process
The project began with dismantling the old deck, roof, and shed, disposing of debris in a 30-yard dumpster. Footing holes were excavated and footings installed to a depth of 24 inches and an 18-inch diameter, flaring at the base per local building codes. After pouring concrete, a 192 sq ft deck with a staircase was built. Trex Enhance decking boards were installed with black clip Hidden-Fasteners, and Trex Select railing and balusters were added. Wood fascia boards were fitted to rim joists. The rear deck featured 6"x 6" posts supporting a new awning roof, and low voltage lighting was added to illuminate the staircase.
The Result
The completed project features a modern 12′ x 16′ deck with a lean-to roof integrated with the existing house roof. It includes 6″x 6″ posts, 2″x 8″ rafters at 12″ O.C., and plywood sheathing with color-matched architectural asphalt shingles. White fascia boards and trims enhance the exterior, while the interior has a closed ceiling with 2″x 6″ joists and solid white soffit. High-quality materials and craftsmanship ensure durability and elegance, transforming the outdoor space into a sophisticated, inviting area.
