The Inspection
A comprehensive evaluation was conducted to assess the existing front porch and deck area. The front porch required new railing installation, while the 9' W x 16' L deck needed extensive refurbishment, including the replacement of wood decking boards and the installation of a cocktail railing. Additionally, the deck stairs demanded a complete overhaul.
The Process
The renovation began with preparing the front porch by digging holes and pouring concrete footings for the cedar posts, followed by installing Trex black railing kits. For the deck, the old wood decking was replaced with new Trex Select solid boards in Pebble Grey, ensuring flush screws. The end joists were swapped with new pressure-treated wood, complemented by PVC white fascia boards and Trex Select cocktail railing. The deck stairs were completely rebuilt with new stringers, posts, and Trex Select step boards. Additional improvements included replacing a screened door with a pressure-treated wood door and installing a new handrail on the concrete stairs.
The Result
The project resulted in a revitalized outdoor space, featuring a sturdy front porch with Trex railing and cedar posts with black caps. The deck now has durable Trex Select decking in Pebble Grey, complemented by a cocktail railing. The expertly crafted deck stairs enhance safety and aesthetics. Additional touches like the wood lattice and white handrail on the stairs elevate the overall look, enhancing the property’s value and appeal.
