The Inspection
For this 762 sq ft project in West Springfield, our team inspected the deck and two walkways, identifying a mix of stained and unfinished wood that required a cohesive approach. We also noted minor repairs, including stabilizing a railing and replacing damaged boards. This evaluation allowed us to plan proper prep work, including a 1500 PSI power wash and targeted sanding, ensuring the Behr Dark Chocolate stain would adhere perfectly to the pressure-treated pine.
The Process
The restoration began with replacing damaged boards and reinforcing the railing to ensure safety before finishing. After protecting the surrounding areas, we cleaned and sanded the entire 762 sq ft surface, allowing the wood to fully dry for optimal stain absorption.
Using Behr Dark Chocolate stain, we applied a tailored multi-coat system: two coats on unstained areas for deep saturation and one or two coats on previously stained sections to achieve a uniform finish. This precise application creates a durable, moisture-resistant layer that enhances the wood grain and provides strong UV protection.
The Result
The final result is a stunningly rejuvenated outdoor space where the deck and walkways now feature a deep, consistent Dark Chocolate tone that complements the home’s exterior beautifully. Beyond the aesthetic upgrade, the premium Behr stain provides a robust protective layer that will preserve the wood’s integrity for years to come.
