The Inspection
Upon evaluating the property's outdoor structures, our team identified several areas requiring immediate maintenance to ensure safety and longevity. The deck's substructure, including its 6″x6″ posts, beams, and joists, needed a protective coating to extend the wood's service life. Additionally, the center post lacked sufficient lateral support. Along the property perimeter, the existing fence top rail and post caps showed significant signs of wear , while the deck entrance and gate hardware required functional upgrades to restore smooth operation and security.
The Process
To restore the outdoor living space, we completed a multi-phase renovation focused on durability and a cohesive look. The deck substructure (posts, V-bracers, beams, and joists) was fully stained and sealed for protection. We improved stability by adding two 2″x6″ pressure-treated knee bracers at the center post.
For the fence, we replaced worn materials with ~76 linear feet of new 1″x4″ top rail boards, applied custom staining to match the existing finish, and installed ten new 4″x4″ post caps. Finally, we replaced the old sliding screen door with a new white unit (36” x 80”) and installed an exterior gate lock for improved access and functionality.
The Result
The project delivered a fully revitalized exterior that combines strong structural integrity with a refreshed look. The deck was reinforced and sealed for long-term protection, while fence repairs restored a uniform appearance. A new sliding screen door and updated gate hardware improved functionality, resulting in a durable and cohesive outdoor space.
