The Inspection
Upon arriving at the Fairfax Station property, our team performed a detailed assessment to prepare for a full portico transformation. We evaluated the existing cornice and railing for safe removal and inspected the brick façade to support the new structural beams. We also identified needed repairs, including damaged brickwork on the steps and deteriorated trim near the bay window, ensuring a solid and code-compliant foundation for the new addition.
The Process
To create a grand and structurally sound entryway, our team removed the old cornice and cut precise openings in the brick façade to install new structural beams. We built a gable roof using 2″ x 8″ pressure-treated wood, adding plywood sheathing, flashing, and underlayment, then matched the home with GAF Timberline shingles. The exterior was finished with white fascia, solid soffit panels, and two Permacast fluted columns, along with brick repairs and painted PVC details for a seamless look.
The Result
The finished project is a stunning custom portico that dramatically elevates the property’s curb appeal and provides lasting protection from the elements. The majestic fluted columns and flawlessly matched architectural shingles make the new addition look as though it was part of the original home design.
