Creating a modern outdoor living space
The Inspection
The project commenced with the dismantling of an aged 348 sq ft second-story deck and stairs, ensuring all waste was disposed of in a 30-yard dumpster. Existing post supports and footings were excavated and removed, preparing the site for the new construction as per the updated deck plans.
The Process
Construction followed local building codes, with 24-inch deep, 18-inch diameter footings using high-quality ready-mix concrete. A 348 sq ft deck was built with a 14-step staircase and wooden landing. A Trex rainscape system ensured protection, and Trex Select Decking with hidden fasteners provided a sleek finish. Prowood railing with a Trex top rail surrounded the deck, while a 16' x 14' PT wood pergola added shade and aesthetic appeal.
The Result
The finished deck is a testament to craftsmanship and design, featuring a robust structure and a modern, low-maintenance surface. The addition of a pergola creates a focal point for outdoor activities, while the low-voltage lights on each step enhance safety and ambiance. This extensive renovation not only expanded the living space but also significantly increased the property’s value and appeal.
