The Inspection
Prior to construction, a thorough inspection was conducted to ensure compliance with local building ordinances. The new deck design was meticulously reviewed, with all footing holes marked for excavation below grade as per the construction plans.
The Process
The project began with 24-inch deep concrete footings to create a stable foundation. A 96-square-foot deck was built, featuring a left-side staircase with a 4' x 4' landing. The deck used high-quality Southern Pine #2 wood, bordered by 20 feet of Prowood Railing. The stairs were built with 2'' x 12'' stringers, Prowood Stair Railing, and treated decking boards, with low-voltage or solar lights on each stair section for safety. Additionally, a window was replaced with a new 36'' W x 80'' H door to improve access.
The Result
The project culminated in a robust and visually appealing outdoor living space, elevated 9 feet above ground level at the rear of the house, providing both functionality and style. The new deck and staircase offer enhanced durability and safety features, while the door installation improves accessibility and integrates seamlessly with the home’s design. The meticulous execution of the project reflects a commitment to quality and attention to detail, resulting in a transformed outdoor area ready for enjoyment.
