The Inspection
The project commenced with a thorough inspection of the existing deck area, measuring approximately 324 square feet. All damaged decking boards were carefully removed to assess the condition of the underlying wood joists. During this inspection, any joists found to be compromised were documented, and the client was promptly informed of necessary repairs.
The Process
Following the inspection, new pressure-treated wood decking boards, sized 5/4″ x 6″, were installed in a horizontal pattern across the entire surface. The installation included precise placement of two vertical boards on center for structural support. Each decking board was securely fastened using #9 x 3″ star-drive flat-head wood deck screws, ensuring a stable attachment to the existing joist framework. Additionally, approximately 47 linear feet of top railing was replaced using 2″ x 6″ pressure-treated wood boards, enhancing both safety and aesthetics.

The project successfully revitalized the deck area, providing a durable and visually appealing surface.
