The Inspection
For this dual project in Clifton, VA, we inspected the balcony and backyard shed. We evaluated 20 linear feet of railing, identifying unstable posts for replacement, and assessed the 300 sq ft shed roof to ensure it was ready for a shingle upgrade. We also planned structural reinforcement for the balcony with new pressure-treated posts.
The Process
The restoration began with removing the old balcony posts and installing new 4x4 pressure-treated posts, sleeved in white vinyl. The railing was finished with white balusters and matching fascia for a clean look.
For the shed, we removed 300 sq ft of old roofing, installed new underlayment, and finished with GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in “Hunter Green,” creating a durable and refreshed roof.
The Result
The final result is a complete functional and aesthetic upgrade for the property in Clifton. The balcony now features a secure, low-maintenance vinyl railing system with a 20-year warranty, while the shed is fully protected by a high-performance GAF roofing system. The contrast between the clean white railings and the deep Hunter Green shingles adds a unique character to the outdoor space.
