The Inspection
The deck had been ignored for quite a while and was in really bad shape, without the right structural support to keep it safe. Because it hadn't been properly maintained, and the weight wasn't distributed properly, it had deteriorated significantly. If no action was taken, the owner could have faced some hefty fines from the Homeowners' Association, and anyone using the deck would have been in danger. To prevent these issues, our client wanted to do a full makeover of the deck and make sure it was structurally solid.
The Process
In the initial stage of the project, we started by gently taking off the deck railings, then carefully pulled up the floorboards with great attention to detail. We also had to remove the staircase beams that had been impacted by mold. Afterward, we embarked on a thorough restoration of the deck's structure, swapping out the boards with waterproof materials to ward off any potential mold problems down the line. Lastly, we utilized the leftover components to reconstruct the deck, making sure it was firmly and securely installed.
