The Inspection
The project commenced with a thorough inspection of the existing horizontal aluminum and vinyl siding on the house and carport, covering an area of approximately 532 square feet. The condition of the underlying wood sheathing was assessed to determine if any replacement was necessary prior to the new installation.
The Process
Following the inspection, all existing siding was carefully removed. The wood sheathing was evaluated, and any required repairs were communicated to the customer. A house wrap was then installed, complemented by flashing tape and Dupont FlexWrap to ensure optimal moisture protection. Outside corners for the dormer sections and other specified areas were installed to enhance structural integrity. New James Hardie planks, measuring 6.25” to 8.25” wide and 12’ long, were installed using an overlap method across the designated area, ensuring a secure and weather-resistant finish. Finally, the installation was sealed with white exterior caulking to provide a clean and finished appearance.
The Result
The project successfully transformed the exterior of the house and carport, enhancing both aesthetics and durability. The high-quality materials used, combined with meticulous installation practices, resulted in a robust siding solution that meets modern standards for performance and longevity. The completed work not only improved the visual appeal but also fortified the structure against environmental elements.
